California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) is a USDA-accredited organic certifier. Foods certified “organic” are produced according to the standards set by the USDA National Organic Program (NOP). Organic standards promote and enhance biodiversity, biological cycles, and soil fertility, and restore, maintain, and enhance ecological harmony. Organic inspections check whether NOP standards and regulations are adhered to, both before and after certification. Inspectors review Organic System Plans (OSPs) to ensure they match what is actually happening.
